Gee That Was Good!

Confessions of a late night blogger....
this desk is a mess, my make-up is smudged, my feet are really cold and I just had the most amazing bowl of ice cream topped with...HiHo's chocolate raspberry liqueur sauce....

VOTE FOR HIHO

For years now I have heard lovely complements like "This store is like walking into a magazine!"... "Your shop must be featured in a magazine!"..." I'm sure you and the shop have at least been in Hudson Valley Magazine"...and I always answer nope, nope, nope, OH! HOW I WISH... and now is my chance....
Hudson Valley Magazine's March issue has a ballot for, The Best Of In The Hudson Valley. Yup... that's right! I'm coming right out and asking each of you to locate an issue and vote for HiHo. You can't vote on line and must mail the ballot. You must vote for at least 25 categories throughout the valley for the ballot to be valid. I am requesting that you do a write-in vote for HiHo as the best Christmas Shop in the Valley. The write-in space is at the bottom of the ballot.
I realize the chances are slim, that HiHo will be recognized in this year's Best Of. However, I do think we could get the attention of the magazines staff! Lets get Gardiner on the map! You have my gratitude...

As Mr. HiHo says, " Vote early and often". He can always make me laugh....

A Movie and Some Popcorn

I came across this picture of Charlie Chaplin. It made me smile...it's just how the media would have us all believing our neighbors are fairing in the current economic state.
Of course most of us would be holding on to our lap tops and sipping a Star Bucks. Oh, and talking on our cell phones...really folks we are fine.
May I suggest an old Charlie Chaplin movie and some popcorn.
*Remember you can't win the HiHo give-a-way if you don't comment on the 100+ Posts blog!

Spring Forward

We had our first taste of Spring today. The snow seems to be disappearing and birds were everywhere. The weather was beautiful. It was a day that makes you believe Spring is on the way and the tulips planted in the fall will bloom. The little town of Gardiner was buzzing with the hope of Spring. I want more, more, more days like today...to share with happy hopeful people.
I think she is referring to the snow and bitter winds....Spring forward!

I have found all kinds of new and wonderful blogs as a result of joining in Pink Saturday. My favorite post so far, was one on Hollywood Regency style. Take a look at Tristan's blog he is having a give-a-way too. http://tristanrobin.blogspot.com/ He is celebrating 50 followers! ( notice the owl umbrella stand in the foreground of the first photo on Tristan's pink post,hmmm......look familiar? It's available at HiHo! )

PINK SATURDAY

Today is HiHo's 1st Pink Saturday.

I have shared my personal love for all things pink in the past. Remember the post of my Christmas tree at home, on Dec. 20th?? Today I celebrate with shots from my home again. I spent the week gathering photos of my pink treasures. The hardest part was choosing/editing back and picking just a few to share this week. You see... I plan on sharing more in the future.

This is part of my Hull pottery collection,it represents over 28 years of my love for pink.
A sachet that was a Mothers Day gift nearly 15 years ago.
The front door rug with yesterdays mud boots.

The coffee table tray.

Vintage toy lamb, next to rose fabric covered sewing box.

A gathering of treasures on top of the entertainment cabinet.

Next time I will do all shots from the shop! So stayed tuned...

I have enjoyed Beverly's Pink Saturdays since I happened across a participating blog a few weeks ago. She encourages blogs to post all things pink on Saturdays, which results in tons of photos of pink treasures throughout the blog community.
To continue having fun take a look at Beverly's blog...

A Fun Party

The wine glasses have been washed, the left overs wrapped and the garbage taken out. It must have been a good party, I know it was, I'm wiped. Thanks to all who came out this evening to raise a glass to Caty and welcomed her to HiHo. It was lots of fun.Caty is so very talented, photos don't do her work justice. Even so, I took three quick shots this afternoon before everyone arrived. My personal favorite is the cabbage rose chair. Her pillows are amazing and have vintage needlework centers. The arm chairs are covered in rich tapestry fabrics, the details are perfect. Mimi our floral designer delivered up vases full of lush roses to compliment Caty's displays. There are other upholstered pieces showcased in Caty's room and I had good intentions of taking more pictures. I had imagined shots of people admiring the new room with glasses in hand....long story short we got busy and the camera never made it out of my bag. Sorry, but don't worry you can stop by and see the rest in person.
